Hydrotherapy
Underwater treadmill therapy provides low-impact exercise in a reduced gravity environment, helping arthritic dogs and dogs recovering from surgery move freely with less pain. Conditions such as hip dysplasia, arthritis, and orthopedic injuries, as well as obesity, can also be treated through hydrotherapy. Hydrotherapy treatment combines the heat therapy of water with strengthening exercises while eliminating impact and concussion to the joints. Due to the buoyancy of the water, the animal can exercise and strengthen his or her muscles without stress or pain.
The treadmill can be adjusted to the pet's needs, including water height, treadmill speed and degree of incline and resistance. During the first therapy session, the dog is encouraged to proceed at a slow pace, eliminating fear and stress and helping the animal adjust to the therapy. Please ask your veterinarian about the benefits of hydrotherapy for your pet.
